EASTHAMPTON - Since 1986, on the first weekend of December, the dozens of artists and artisans at One Cottage here have opened their studios to the public for their annual Open Studio and Holiday Sale.
The former factory building is home to painters, sculptors, furniture makers, illustrators, woodworkers, potters, lighting designers and more. They create works that would be at home in a museum or at home in your home. Oil Filter Housing
Hundreds attended the Open Studios on Saturday. The artists and artisans will be there again Sunday and again on Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Janna Ugone & Co. has created a modern heirloom collection of table lamps, floor lamps, lamp shades and luminaires for more than 25 years. Janna Ugone was in Studio 325 on Saturday with many of her staff, packaging lamps and shades and other home decor on sale for a steady stream of customers.

Ugone was just five when she knew she wanted to be an artist. Her training is in mixed media. She believes working class background made her the artist she is today. At some point, you might say a lightbulb went off.
“I couldn’t just become an artist and hope to sell my paintings.” she said Saturday. “I needed a product that I felt people could use.”
She and her staff - and they are also skilled artisans - pride themselves on “lighting just for you.”
“I wanted to feel like I offered the world something useful but also something beautiful that could speak back to people and be something that could be part of what they call home,” she said.
