Grading solutions for tropical fruit

Futura solutions feature extremely delicate machines to sort tropical fruit that will be on display at the Tropical Fruit Congress at Macfrut.

"We are working a lot abroad and mangoes, avocados, dates and dragon fruits are just some of the types of tropical fruits we are able to sort with an extremely delicate system designed according to the type of fruit it needs to transport," explains manager Omar Papi.

Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa are just some of the areas where Futura is growing. "We have set up a few lines in Africa. Growth margins are huge, but we need to move carefully. Kenya and Tanzania produce and export fruit and need grading and sorting solutions."

When it comes to developing countries, companies can process everything by hand as long as their produce is destined to the domestic market. As soon as they start exporting, they need to comply with the strict parameters expected by retailers.

"As for mangoes, for example, their size must be graded with extreme delicacy. Feeding is studied specifically for the type of fruit. We have started off before others and that is why we are well known."

"We have installed a system for avocados in Kenya, one for mangoes in Cambodia, one for dragon fruit in Vietnam and one for mangoes and avocados in Spain. Every solution needs a specific design, we cannot use the same system for different needs."

Futura will attend Macfrut in Rimini (8th-10th May 2019) in hall D1, stand 44.
